Rachel Semmler
Senior Member Service Officer - Wagga Branch

I really enjoy working with people and Defcredit gives me the opportunity to build relationships with our members. It's extremely satisfying helping our members improve the financial aspects of their lives. I joined Defcredit just after finishing school, so I had no prior experience in the banking or financial industry. Defcredit offered me all the support and training I needed to succeed in my role and progress to more challenging positions. Being young proved no barrier to promotion with my experience and abilities being recognised and acknowledged by management

Many years of branch management experience within the 'big banks' brought me to a point where it became necessary to change and attend a workplace where Relationship Management wasn't a title, but a philosophy. I yearned to develop a great team and achieve results based on the satisfaction of Member Service instead of KPIs. My role provides me with the opportunity to really know both colleagues and customers alike and to provide unsurpassed reliability and integrity of service. These are the reasons I joined Defcredit and they're indeed the reasons that I'm here to stay.

Branch Supervisor - Russell Branch

I began working for Defcredit in 1994 and was rejoining the workforce as my children no longer required my full attention and my spouse was a serving member of the Defence Force. I believed I had the type of work ethic that would benefit the organisation and felt the financial industry would offer me the challenges I was looking for. Defcredit offers continual training and support to its staff, which in the long term benefits our members. It is this ongoing support which has enabled me to succeed at Defcredit, progressing from Member Service Officer to Branch Supervisor.

I joined Defcredit as a Trainee in 2003 and it gave me an ideal introduction to the finance industry. I have gained valuable experience and qualifications in an environment that is both nurturing and supportive. Over the years, I have had roles in the Contact Centre and in Loans which have given me an insight into different career paths which will assist me to have a prosperous future within the finance industry. The most enjoyable facet of working at Defcredit is the people I associate with, both within the organisation and members of the wider community.
